Quotes

About the project:

"Because I'm in awe of that site. I'm in awe of the members, of the owner...You know, I don't know any of them well. But you can tell when a person will stand up for what they believe in. That site believes in My Chemical Romance. It's not just a site, it's a passion. I love My Living Romance. Thats all that I need to say."

"I hate the way critics and parents blame kids actions and thoughts on music. My chemical Romance hasn't done anything wrong at all. Other then raise awareness and to help kids give suicidal thoughts a second thought; think it through. Most of parents cause the shit that their kids go through, none the less My chemical Romance has helped kids give it a second thought, they save people. Parents need to give kids respect and need to learn to understand that kids nowdays are different then the kids back in their time! Parents need to at least give space and the right to have an opinion."

"To all those who've tried to belong, and just didn't fit in...you are loved. To all those who've tried to stand out and be heard...you're admired. To all those who've tried to be themselves, only to be shut down...you are supported. To all those who've tried to kill themselves because life's unfair...you're NOT alone. love you friends, love your enemies, because in the end, they'll all be kissing your ass when you make it."

"This is an amazing project. Thank you for doing something that I wished I could do but couldn't. It's both really impressive and really brave. Thank you for helping me realize that there are other people who think this way. We can't change anyone's mind, no one can, but we can spread the message and stand up for what is right. Thank you so much. Defiant to the end, we'll carry on.

"Finally! A place where all the people who strongly believe in MCR's message can fight the negative media. Now I can refer people somewhere when they ask me about what the media says about MCR and whether it is true or not. MCR sure as hell saved my life."

"Whenever kids (or people in general) are going through a hard time in their lives they don't want to hear from someone that everything's going to be okay. The first thing that comes to mind when you hear that is, "How would they know? They haven't gone through what I'm going through". You want to hear that someone else has gone through the same thing you are going through. Then you know everything's going to be okay because they made it out alright. And My Chemical Romance has the best lyrics in the world, and really and they really want to show people that they can live better lives."

"I just read your bulletin on why to add you guys. The things you had to say seriously had fucking chills running down my spine. I agree with every word. This IS the best MCR-site I've found so far. Lately I have been to concerts and all the other people there just talk about how hot Gerard is, but it makes me feel better knowing that there still are other people out there that actually care about the music, and have a real connection with it."

About the band:

"They were raw displays of universal pain, the voices of a generation growing up in a fucked up world, they were real feelings from real people still trying to find their place in the world and in the world of music, best of all and offered a flamboyant light at the end of the tunnel without being the prissy optimists so many bands became when they offered that angle. They were just like me."

"Every time you listen to it you feel like screaming the words at the top of your lungs so the whole world can hear. Like a big "F*CK YOU" to the world, to tell them that you don't care what they think anymore, that you are proud of who you are. Its just you and the music and thats all that matters. It makes you feel better about yourself and that you are not alone because they will always be there. And when you feel like there is nothing left, they can help you. They don't even know who you are but they can touch your soul in a way you would never believe possible."

By the band:

"Don't ever return to violence on violence. then you are smarter, faster and MUCH better looking."
- Gerard Way

"If you've been a fan of the band for a long time, you know we've always talked about suicide, depression, things of that nature. And we've always told you that if things feel so desperate, and you're so hurt you're so depressed, you find some person that you trust to talk to. That's something we've always said. But what we're going to say to you today is, that if you find yourself depressed, hurt, like an outcast, like the only kind of place you could ever fit in is in a show like this, that's not the case. 'Cause even though we're all outcasts in our own way we all belong to this world an we all fit in to this world. Do you understand me? We all have something to say, but you never ever say it with violence."
-Gerard Way

"Your going to come across a lot of shitty bands, and a lot of shitty people. And if anyone of those people call you names because of what you look like, or because they don't accept you for who you are. I want you to look right at that motherf****r, stick up your middle finger, and scream F**K YOU!"
-Gerard Way

"Yeah, obviously we use vampires as a metaphor for something else, something deeper than just the supernatural. But there's just something about the bloodsucking walking dead, that can say so much to people. There are really so many people trying to get control over you on a daily basis and steal your soul in some way, take a part of you..."
-Gerard Way

"This article said that people who listened to our music - they called you a cult. And said we promote self harm and suicide. You all know its not true. We want you to live. We want to save your lives. You saved ours. We never want to let a single thing hurt any of you. And you should all know, if you support us.. you are not a cult - You are a fucking army."
-Gerard Way

"Hey girls, you're beautiful. Don't look at those stupid magazines with sticklike models. Eat healthy and exercise. That's all. Don't let anyone tell you you're not good enough. You are good enough, you are too good. Love your family with all your heart and listen to it. You are gorgeous, wether you're a size 3 or a size 14. It doesn't matter what you look like on the outside, as long as you're a good person, aslong as you respect others. I know it's been told hundreds of times before, but it's true. Hey girls, you're beautiful."
-Gerard Way

"This is definitely a band that wants to save your life."
- Frank Iero

"Be Yourself, Don't take anyone's shit and never let them take you alive..."
- Gerard Way

"If for one minute you think you're better than a sixteen year old girl in a Green Day t-shirt, you are sorely mistaken. Remember the first time you went to a show and saw your favorite band. You wore their shirt, and sang every word. You didn't know anything about scene politics, haircuts, or what was cool. All you knew was that this music made you feel different from anyone you shared a locker with. Someone finally understood you. This is what music is about."
-Gerard Way

"On this tour, I saw someone in the crowd who was completely cut up. That changed everything right then. I'm worried that people might think they have to do something like that to come to our shows. That they have to go through that in order to fit in. I hate to think that there's anything about this band that would encourage anyone to do that to themselves."
-Gerard Way

"You should never want to hurt yourself. You should love yourself. Sometimes you have to kind of die inside in order to rise from your own ashes and believe in yourself and love yourself and become a new person and I think that that is going to be a lot of what the next record is about, not to plug it or anything. Like, it's going to talk about dying and coming back to become what you totally want to become. We are all becoming what we want to become."
- Gerard Way

"I don't want people to be afraid of living, which I think is everybody's biggest fear. I want people to express themselves how they want. If that means dressing up in women's clothing, so be it. I'm very opposed to intolerance, racism, and sexism. Men are still being called 'faggots.' I see women being treated as second-class citizens, even in punk rock. So if it's happening there, it's happening everywhere. I'm very much into acceptance."
- Gerard Way

"Even if you stop believing in us, we'll never stop believing in you."
- Gerard Way

"I can't imagine any other bands having better kids than ours, and if they do at least I know our kids can beat up their kids."
- Frank Iero

"I'm sure you all have seen in the tabloids calling us some emo death cult. But I'm sure you know that we have never encouraged you to be anything than yourselves, and to never take any one else's shit!"
- Gerard Way

"Heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary."
- Gerard Way

"Interviewer: Why should the world give a damn about My Chemical Romance?
Gerard: Because we give a damn about it.
Frank: Save your life.
Gerard: Yeah. Good enough for me, and there are so few people that actually do give a damn about the world."

"There's less violence in the world when people are using Hula-Hoops."
- Mikey Way

"The Black Parade is a big middle finger to the world."
- Gerard Way
